Where Sneaker Aftermarket Prices Will Go After Yeezy Day

How you can capitalize on Yeezy Day wins

Yeezy Day is here and tons of hype — and non-hype — Yeezys are being released as I’m writing this story.

Can you expect to hit a pair? It’s hard to tell. I hit a pair of Sesames on Yeezy Day 2019 and resold them months later for a solid profit. However, it took me all day to hit them and honestly it was almost a waste of my day.

You can expect the same thing with Yeezy Day this year except more bots will be in action.

Instead of focusing on the sneakers you have the possibility of obtaining, I suggest thinking ahead about where the future of where the market might go after people get these pairs in hand.

It’s no secret that resellers will brick the market on popular sneakers like Yeezy 350 V2 Zebras. However, you might be looking at an investment opportunity.

Keep in mind that none of this is financial advice and you should do what’s best with your money. These are only predictions.

‘Bred’ 350 V2

Do you remember when the Bred 350s restocked toward the end of 2020 and the aftermarket plummeted from years of sitting between $800-$1,000 to between $400 and $500?

You can expect something similar to happen if/when we see the Bred 350s released on Yeezy Day. Wait a week or so for folks to get pairs in hand and you just might find yourself staring at a huge dip you can buy into.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s an expensive dip. But if aftermarket prices return to where they were at between 2017 and 2020, which they appeared to be on target to do before Yeezy Day, then you’ll find yourself turning $400 into $800 within the span of a year or so.

‘Zebra’ 350 V2

The Zebras are more difficult to predict than the Breds because their price hasn’t fluctuated as much and we didn’t see a major restock like we did with the Breds in the past.

Prices were approaching $500 in all sizes before Yeezy Day and one thing we can be certain of is a dip in that aftermarket forecast.

How much of a dip? It’s hard to tell.

Will it be worth investing in aftermarket prices for a future boost to the moon? Once again hard to tell, but the demand seems to be there for the Zebras to skyrocket sooner or later. They might be a longer hold than others on this list.

‘Tail Light’ 350 V2

The Tail Lights have been steadily increasing in value ever since they were released. It’s a subtle yet appealing colorway that many people want.

A Yeezy Day restock on the Tail Lights will cause the aftermarket price to crash a bit and give you a chance to invest.

Before Yeezy Day, prices sat around $500. At the time of writing this, prices have already started to dive to the low $400 range and people still haven’t gotten pairs in hand yet. They will continue to fall.

But I’d only consider buying pairs of these if they somehow dropped to around $300, which I honestly don’t see happening in most sizes. Not saying it’s impossible that they’ll drop that low, just unlikely.

‘Utility’ 500

The Utility 500s sat around $500 on the aftermarket until they dropped to the mid-$300 range due to a restock in late November 2020. Since then, the prices haven’t quite recovered.

Now that we’re seeing another restock, you can almost bet that prices will fall once again and this time it’ll be something I’m going to keep an eye on.

The shoe retails at $200. If/when I see sellers brick the aftermarket prices in smaller sizes (4.5–7.5) or larger sizes (13 or higher) I’m going to start placing bids.

I have confidence this sneaker will start its path back up to the $400-$500 range in the next year and I’m willing to invest in it. It’s an all-black Yeezy that might not ever see a restock again.

Then again, it might see another restock next Yeezy Day, who really knows.

Apply this to other Yeezys after Yeezy Day

If you have time during the madness that is Yeezy Day, look at the aftermarket prices on StockX.

You’ll see Yeezy aftermarket dip soon and there will be opportunities to invest and grow your money by buying the right shoes and holding them.

Yes, hitting for retail on Yeezy Day is the goal, but that’s not the only way to make money here.
