Virgil Abloh was a fashion designer and entrepreneur who was best known for his streetwear brand, Off-White. He has also collaborated with major brands such as Nike, Louis Vuitton, and Ikea. In 2018, he was appointed as the artistic director of menswear at Louis Vuitton.

In 2017, Virgil Abloh collaborated with Nike to create a line of sneakers called “The Ten.” The collection was made up of ten re-imagined Nike silhouettes — the Air Jordan 1, Air Jordan 5, Air Presto, and Dunk just to name a few. Pushing the barriers of sneaker design through his artistic vision.

Abloh was born in Rockford, Illinois, to Ghanaian immigrant parents. He studied civil engineering at the University of Wisconsin–Madison before dropping out to pursue a career in fashion. Abloh interned for Fendi and worked as a freelance graphic designer for Kanye West before launching Off-White in 2013.

Off-White quickly rose to prominence in the fashion world, thanks in part to Abloh’s inventive designs and his ability to fuse high-end and streetwear aesthetics. The brand’s success led to Abloh being tapped to design menswear for Louis Vuitton in 2018.

Abloh was a prolific collaborator, working with several brands and artists on limited edition collections. He also designed the “Pineapple” Air Jordan 1 sneaker and created artwork for Jay-Z’s “Watch the Throne” album.
