Does Clothing Resell Well On The Aftermarket?

Kicks sell on the aftermarket, but does anything else?

If you’re a reseller or even dabble in reselling, you know that sneakers are a high-tier product to sell. Whether you’re buying them for cheap at Goodwill or buying deadstock Yeezys, there is a booming sneaker market yearning for more pairs.

The answer is yes, certain brands have always retained value and increased in value on the aftermarket.

If you look past the sneaker market and focus on other markets, you’ll see that there is a resell aftermarket for all kinds of clothing products.

There are a couple factors that go into which brands perform well on the aftermarket.

Here’s what you need to know.

Brands matter

This first point might seem like an obvious one, but the brand you want to resell matters.

There is a very small market for Calvin Klein products. As much as all of us want to be able to run into a store, find a Calvin Klein jacket and list it for much more online, it’s difficult to do that.

You need to focus on reselling brands that have an aftermarket value. This might be luxury brands like Gucci or Dior. It could be popular street brands like Supreme, BAPE, or Kith.

The more desired a brand is, the better a clothing item from that brand will perform.

On some levels, it even applies to sporting brands like Nike. If you can buy lightly used Nike products then there’s a high chance you can sell them for much more on sites like eBay.

I’ve personally found many Nike polos and hats brand new with tags on them at my local Goodwill. These products sell within days of listing them and can go for a really nice profit.

Type of clothing matters

Just because you were able to buy Supreme underwear doesn’t mean you’ll be able to make any money off of it. First, because Supreme underwear is always in stock and secondly because there is no market for it.

Iconic Supreme clothing products that sell well or box logo (BOGO) hoodies and shirts, hats, and some branded T-shirts.

The article of clothing you have really does matter. It’s hard for me to imagine people paying well over resell for Supreme socks — but honestly, I wouldn’t put it past some people.

Aim to resell articles of clothing that are wearable and fall under the right brands.
