Buy Graded Cards Instead of Raw Cards for a Better Return
In the world of card trading and reselling, graded cards reign supreme. Sealed sets do well on the aftermarket, some raw cards perform decently, but graded cards do the best.
If you don’t believe me, just check out some of the aftermarket prices of PSA 10s on the market. They are significantly higher than most sealed sets and raw cards no matter what collectible set you’re looking at. It could be Pokemon, Panini Prizm, or Optic, graded cards do better over time. Specifically PSA 9s or 10s.
When looking at what to resell and invest your money in, it might be tempting to throw money at a sealed set or raw card. But if you don’t plan on ripping open a set or immediately going to get your raw card graded then you’ll already be losing money. If you compare this to a PSA 10, the value of that card is most likely already accumulating, especially if the card is from a set that isn’t being printed anymore.
And remember, all of this is happening during a dip in the market. When the market rebounds to normal levels, graded cards, ungraded cards, and sealed sets will all begin to rise in value.
Members of Juiced IO receive daily information about cards of all types, not just graded cards. They get access to websites that sell sets for retail prices, eBay listings of cards that can be profitable, and so much more.

Graded vs. Sealed Sets and Raw Cards
If you look at it in the form of Pokemon cards on the market, a VMax Charizard card from the Shining Fates set sells for around $200-$300 ungraded on eBay. A Shining Fates Elite Trainer Box, which is the set where you can pull that VMax Charizard card, is only selling for around $60 or $70 sealed.
Compare those prices to the price of a PSA 10 VMax Charizard, which sells for around $600 on eBay at the time of writing this. Not only does a PSA 10 VMax Charizard sell for more, but its value has a less likely chance of being volatile compared to a sealed set.
Not only is the graded card selling for a higher value, but it will continue to increase over the years and remain a PSA 10. Whereas the value of sealed sets and raw cards have yet to be determined and still might increase over the years but not with the same guarantee as an already graded PSA 10 card.
Go graded
If you have the option between buying an elite trainer box or a graded PSA 10 card, it can be a really tricky decision.
If the graded PSA 10 card is something you have faith in then you will want to go that route. If you just want to invest in an entire set and sit on it then the sealed set might be better for you. Everyone’s risk tolerance is different, do what works best for you.
