Are Nike Dunks Still Still Worth Reselling?
2020 was a great year for Nike Dunks and SB Dunks. They resold for a lot of money, the hype surrounding them was insane, and they weren’t being produced in large supply.
2021 was said to be the Year of the Dunk. However, with the first few months resulting in a lot of delays on shipping times and a surplus of generic colorways, the Year of the Dunk appears to have been a letdown.
If you were reselling Nike Dunks in 2020, good for you. It means you cashed in on the opportunity when almost every pair of dunks was selling for a good profit. At the time of writing this, that’s not the case.
Now, only specific Dunks and SB Dunks perform well on the aftermarket. Other kinds might fetch you a quick $50-$100, but the right Dunks will fetch you much more than that.
Not sure which Dunks to resell, if any at all? Read on to find out what factors matter when determining if a Dunk is a good investment in 2021.
Colorway matters
The right colors of a Nike Dunk or SB Dunk really matter. If it’s a colorway similar to the recently released ‘Laser Orange’ Dunks, then you can expect the resale price of that color to be great.
It’s because Dunks are at the point where the style and wearability really matter. Compare this to last year where the wearability of the sneaker didn’t matter as much because Dunks were just flying off of shelves.
If you notice a color that you think a lot of people will like, chances are it’s a good pair to resell. Always keep in mind that in 2021, the colorway of Nike Dunks really plays a huge role in reselling the sneaker.
Style matters
Just like how much the color of the sneaker matters, the style matters almost just as much. Nike Dunk Highs started to release during the height of the Dunk wave.
At first, the Highs performed decently on the aftermarket but they quickly dropped in value.
If you’re looking to resell Nike Dunks then it’s almost always better to invest in Dunk Lows compared to Highs. They are more popular among buyers and therefore sell for more money.
That’s not to be said that Highs don’t make much money. It’s just that they don’t make as much compared to the right pair of Lows.
Remember, there are still some Nike Dunk Lows in specific colorways that immediately resell for triple their retail prices. It’s just that in 2021, those kinds of sales are fewer than in 2020.
