Whether you’re a seasoned reseller or you’re just getting into the sport of buying things and selling them for more money, figuring out the most profitable item to flip is of high importance.

It’s one thing if you know a specific industry well enough that you can really predict the best times to buy and sell an item but otherwise you might find yourself debating where to put your money.

With so many great items to buy and resell these days, it can get very tedious constantly trying to figure out what’s the most profitable item to resell.

To any of my Juiced IO members reading this story, you don’t have this problem. You know exactly what stuff to buy, when to buy it, when to sell it, and where to sell it. Members of the Juiced IO community are spoiled with this kind of information and never have to rack their brains to figure out the best items to purchase and flip.

However, if you’re not a member of Juiced IO and want to start reselling to make money, you’ll need to know which markets are booming popular at any given time.

Here are some tips on whether you should invest in apparel or collectibles at the time of writing this story.

Apparel
Reselling apparel can be very profitable because people love to dress nice and some high end items are only sold in limited quantities. That means once they sell out there is a chance they might never restock. People who miss out on the original retail release will pay extra money to wear the clothes they like.

When it comes to reselling apparel, there is one major driving item driving it: sneakers.

Reselling sneakers can make you so much money that it’s actually ridiculous. The sneaker market is a multi-billion dollar growing industry that continues to do well year after year.

It’s not uncommon in the slightest to buy a pair of sneakers from Nike on Saturday, get them in the mail on Tuesday, sell them that same day, and get paid on Friday when they are authenticated.

And we’re not just talking about small payments. It’s very common to do that exact process with a $100 pair of sneakers and make a $100 profit from selling them.

Sneakers aren’t the only thing you can do this with in the apparel category. Some shirts, bags, hats, and other items also can be resold like this, but sneakers are the driving force.

Collectibles
Collectibles are veterans to the resell market. People have been reselling cards and other items for years with success.

A sealed pack of Pokemon cards from 1999 sells for thousands of dollars on eBay. The same can’t be said for sneakers.

The same goes for action figures, comic books, and other collectibles. If you find the right one and keep it in good condition, it will hold its value and continue increasing over the years.

The bottom line
It all depends on your situation but the way it looks right now is apparel might be the better short term investment if you can get your hands on hyped sneakers and sell them in a few months or even a few years.

Collectibles are definitely the better long term investment. In 20 years from now when the soles from the sneakers you bought are falling apart, your sealed Pokemon Booster Box will be just fine and worth much more than what you paid.
