Storyset

This week, we see the Adidas Yeezy Quantum release on the “Onyx” colorway. It’s an all-black colorway that retails at $250 in men’s sizes and similar to other Yeezy Quantum colorways, resale predictions aren’t high.

There is one thing going for this specific colorway of Adidas Yeezy Quantums: the colorway.

All black sneakers are extremely wearable, no matter who you are. Yeezy’s typically come in pastel or Earth-tone colors, especially Yeezy 350 V2s. Colorways like “Ash Pearl,” “Cinder,” and “Clay” were previously released for Yeezy 350 V2s and the Quantums have taken a similar route with colorways like “Barium” and “Seal Teal.”

But it’s a new day and with a new day comes new colorways of the same Yeezys. An all-black Yeezy Quantum colorway could be exactly what this model needs to skyrocket in value.

If you want to find out how much money you can make selling the Yeezy Quantum Onyx sneakers, here’s what you need to know.

It’s a wearable colorway

As I previously said, since the sneaker is all black it’s an extremely wearable colorway. It can be worn with anything, doesn’t stand out too much, and is a change of pace for the model.

The Yeezy 700 Onyx colorway took a bit to start rising on the aftermarket, but now it’s continuously ascending. There’s a chance that these Onyx Quantums could do the same thing.

Kanye just dropped an album

Kanye West recently dropped the Donda album and it will raise the aftermarket price of the Yeezy Quantum Onyx sneakers and other Yeezys.

Kanye has a cult following behind him and with the recent release of his album, now he’s got a place to direct his cult following: his sneakers.

Sales have spiked since the release of Donda and you can expect these QNTM Yeezys to be part of that sales wave.

Retail price is high

One factor that could damper profits made on this sneaker is the retail price. Even though all Yeezy’s retail for $200 or more, a solid $250 retail price for the Onyx Yeezy Quantums can eat into profit margins.

Lower retail priced sneakers have more room to make money on because the buy in price is lower. But $250 is steep for a sneaker that has been known not to sell well on the aftermarket. It’s just another reason buyers might not want to purchase these Onyx Yeezys.

Resale prediction

At the time of writing this story, resale prices on StockX are close to — or even below — retail price. After fees are paid, resellers will be lucky to break even.

However, if you sell pre-orders on eBay or you want to invest in the long-term, it’s safe to say after 6 months or a year the price will increase on the aftermarket.

Unless you plan on holding these sneakers for months — or years — then it’s not advised to expect a lot of profit coming from reselling the Yeezy Quantum Onyx colorway.
